Boesmanspoort: Life on Our Karoo Farm
Share
Nestled in the vast, rugged beauty of the Hantam Karoo, just 60 km from Colesberg, lies Boesmanspoort—a working farm where tradition, innovation, and the stillness of the land come together.
Boesmanspoort isn’t just a place. It’s a way of life shaped by big skies, rocky koppies, and the fierce determination of the Karoo people. Here, farming isn’t hurried. It’s deliberate, honest work. Our animals are healthy, our soil respected, and our products made with care.
We farm cattle and goats on the veld, letting them roam on the dry grasses and hardy shrubs that give Karoo meat its unmistakable flavor. Our chickens scratch freely in the yard, providing us with fresh, golden-yolked eggs every day. And from our dairy herd, we collect rich milk for our artisan Boerenkaas—our nod to traditional Dutch-style farm cheese, adapted to Karoo conditions.
But Boesmanspoort is more than its animals and produce. It’s early mornings watching the sunrise set the koppies ablaze in orange. It’s fixing fences and tending the vegetable garden. It’s teaching the next generation that a good farm is built on respect for nature, for animals, and for people.
We’re proud to bring the taste and spirit of Boesmanspoort to your table. Every product carries with it the quiet vastness of the Karoo, the crisp air of winter dawns, and the warmth of family meals around long wooden tables.
Whether you’re buying our farm-made Boerenkaas, our free-range eggs, or simply following our journey here on the blog, you’re part of the story of Boesmanspoort.
Thank you for supporting small farms. Thank you for choosing real food, made the real way.
